Friendly: Italy 1:0 Albania full match replay

Italy defeated Albania 1-0 in an international friendly in Genoa, Italy. The lone goal was noted under Stefano Okaka, who was making his debut with Italy, but it actuality it could have been an own goal by the visitors.

As reported, the Italian national team made the goal in the 82nd minute to win the game. The Italians clearly dominated the game with many chances to score. However, the Azzurri lacked aim in order to give definition to the the victory over their adversary.

The match was originally scheduled to be played in Parma. According to reports, the match was moved to Genoa to raise money for the floods that hit the area.

The first chance of the game came via Alessio Cerci from a pass from Andrea Bertolacci, but Albanian goalkeeper Etrit Berisha responded with a nice block on Cerci’s shot. The Italians, however, were relentless and kept testing the Albanians.

Another good chance came from Mattia Destro in the 34th minute, but it was to no avail. Still, Italy controlled the game well until Albanian Sokol Cikalleshi hit the post with a shot. The Italian defense fell asleep for a second as Cikalleshi created the opportunity.

In the second half, the game continued at the same pace with the Italians on the attack. The Albanian team held defensively and had some chances with counterattacks that were anything but deadly.

The goal by Stefano Okaka came from a corner kick. Okaka headed the ball towards the Albanian goal, but it skipped off Albanian defender Hamdi Salihi. Once the the ball skipped, it was impossible for goalkeeper Berisha to save.

Italy took the victory over Albania and will not play again until March of 2015 when they face England for next international friendly.
